This comes with the added benefit of her seeking connections in this endeavor.Scholarly: Conversations on history and ruins that dot the lands tend to draw in Edith the most. She is eager to hear theories and learn something new.Ishgardian Culture: Edith spent her time immersed in Ishgardian society, and its ways and customs have stuck with her. She is familiar with the structure of Ishgardian's classes and some of the politicing of major houses.

Background:

Edith's past is enigmatic, something even she is not familiar with. Several months ago, she found herself lost in ruins surrounding Amdapor. She was found and taken in by a traveling scholar from Ishgard named Driommert Hiepagand. The strange hyur grew on the scholar, and he saw potential in her. Because of this, Driommert took her in as his assistant. While she settled into the role well, the social climate in Isghard was different; her eccentricities and stifled social skills often left her at odds with or isolated from conversations and social groups. Edith never let it bother her outwardly, focusing on her studies.
Before meeting Edith, Driommert's life was filled with scholarly pursuits but lacked interpersonal relationships. He was an Elezen reaching his twilight years, with an estranged wife and two children. The manor he lived in was empty, and he spent little time there. Dust accumulated, and many neighborhood rumors spread that the place was abandoned and haunted. He preferred to live out of his office, and this had to change when he took in Edith. The manor was regularly inhabited for the first time in decades. Edith took it upon herself to clean and bring life to the rooms. Alongside her assistant role, she kept the small manor fresh and clean.
Days turned to months, and Edith learned as much as she could from her new mentor. It was a peaceful time, full of lectures and late-night study sessions. As pleasant as this time was for both Edith and Drimmomert, it wasn't to last. Drimmomert's health began to decline, and he became weak and plagued with an illness. Healers could do all but soothe symptoms and hope for his recovery.
Because of his condition, his estranged family was informed of his declining health. This saw the return of the two Hiepagand children. There was the older brother, who was set to inherit his father's position, and the daughter, already married with her own family to attend to. When his inevitable passing came, the two were there to take their inheritance. Drimmomert's two children saw Edith's presence as parasitic and wanted nothing to do with her.
Thankfully, neither of the two children were set to inherit Drimmomert's office. Both the son and daughter were unaware of its existence, as it was located in apartments on the other side of the city. Edith, however, took over ownership of the rented office, even moving into it and living out of the small office space. From there, she lives and spends much of her time, if she is not traveling and exploring.

Personality:

Edith is highly withdrawn; her facial expressions are often inscrutable, making it a challenge to decipher her true feelings and motivations. She is curt and prefers to be direct in her intentions and desires. The deadpan expression Edith often wears makes developing closer relationships difficult, especially when true intentions can’t be easily perceived.Edith has a soft, playful streak deep down, but it reveals itself rarely. She often comes off as cold and uncaring due to her tone and inexpressive nature. This is generally never intentional, however. She will be caught off guard when something she’s communicated is taken as a threat or harsh, when it was meant as a genuine warning or caution. She lives a rich inner life inside her mind, and there are times it peeks through.Edith is growing and learning. The more Edith spends time with others, it shapes her morality, personality, and more. She views her memory loss as a chance to be someone new and discover a new sense of purpose. As Edith spends more time with others, she learns how to open up and care for people around her.
She is eager to deny that she cares about those she has become close to, but her actions usually betray the care she holds.

Mysterious Past - Slightly Spoilery:

Because of Edith's memory loss, much of her life is shrouded in mystery even to herself. She knows little about herself. Some skills came naturally, revealing forgotten knowledge and muscle memory. Though memories like these flow easily, personal memories escape her grasp. She is unaware of how she acquired the markings and scars on her left arm, and finds them to have strange, lingering feelings.Though Edith does not know it, she has some connection to black magic and forbidden arcana. This is something she is not aware of. This connection ties into her personal backstory and character plots that drive her arc forward. I am open to discussing and exploring this part of her past! Black magic and voidsent are all very forbidden; I am aware of this and would need to be kept under wraps. Something like this is more of a private hook that I would want to explore with someone I get to know a little first.

Contact I can be reached on discord by @shinygoblins or in game, though discord is preferredAge I'm in my late 20's and prefer to RP with people at least 18 or older, though I prefer 21+RP Experience I've been RPing for a while, it's pretty fun! I've spent a lot of time RPing in other MMOs. I am still learning the lore, so be gentle, please!Lore I am still learning the FFXIV lore, admittedly. I tend to stick closely to lore, but get creative with what's given. I like a nice balance of rule of cool and keeping things in the realm of possibilities.Thematic Preferences I tend to personally stick towards playing characters with middling abilities in combat and the like. I also enjoy the more 'cottage fantasy' and general more fantasy aspects of FFXIV rather than any of the more modern and futuristic parts. Of course this is merely my own preference, and I am pretty flexible if the plot is compelling.RP Preferences I enjoy slice-of-life, adventure, fluff, and a whiff of comedy. I do enjoy a little drama between characters, it's what fuels some fun interactions! I'm fine with mature topics and do enjoy them when they have purpose and nuance. though consent is key. For more sensitive topics, especially involving one of my characters, I'd rather build a rapport first.

Romance I do enjoy romance in RP, but I prefer it to be a slow burn. I also prefer to to know the player a bit outside of role-play; since trust is key to enjoying it!OOC does not equal IC I am not Edith, and Edith is not me. She may say things or do things I would not do, or know are not approriate. Because of this, comunication is important. Dont' take anything my characters do as how I feel about a player or character ooc, please.Communication is king For me, communication can be one of the most important things for RP, especially in long-term projects or character arcs. I enjoy it when things develop naturally in RP, but I also think communication is an important factor as well. I prefer to schedule RP ahead, but I generally have time enough to hop in some more casual unplanned RP here or there. Good communication breeds friendship and trust!OOC needs come first I enjoy RP as a hobby, and it's something I do for fun. Because of that,
I am always willing to fade to black when needed. If you have any lines, or topics you prefer avoided in an RP, please reach out!
